The attribute approach to body skill development

The way in which out body performs for a given task is the basis for any physical skill. How we feel to our partners or opponents, how able to move, how efficiently we use our bodies; these are all serious considerations for the Martial Artis. MartialBody training places great emphasis on the development of attributes that will make us feel and perform differently.

Building the MartialBody

Heavy / Stable / Connected / Agile / Complex / Fluid

Each of the attributes of the MartialBody (called Bodies) are powerful and complete systems in their own right. An exponent could specialise in one of the 6 and have great success. But when layered together, into a cohesive system, the true 'Martial Body' is formed and the exponent develops highly refined and developed body method.

Each attribute leads on from the next in a cycle of development

MartialBody follows a cycle of training which moves us through each of the bodies sequentially until we return back to the first. Each cycle adds more depth in the process and creates more advanced understanding of each attributes.

Founded in Practice - Not just Theory

It is not enough to just understand the theory behind something. We must embody and embrace the training such that it becomes a part of our lives. MartialBody doesn't benefit from the obvious advantages of progression in other forms of developmental training such as bigger muscles or a bigger gas tank. Your progression will most often manifest in the comments of your training partners; "Wow you are starting to feel alot stronger" or "Your much harder to move at the moment". These little comments are what we search for in the MartialBody system. They highlight that our attributes are building.
